The Hand Behind the Trail

The Engineer’s Apprentice

Solventless Mechanics

I spent four years training under a master inventor of liquid-solid separation technology. My work was rooted in the daily translations of the mechanical rigor required to capture botanical resins without the distorting influence of heat or inorganic chemical solvents.

Today, I apply that industrial discipline to the Oregon Scent Trail. This directory is a geographic extension of my training—a systematic identification of the four essential Scent Profile Provinces where Oregon’s atmospheric chemistry is at its most potent and pure.

True extraction is a challenge of separation science. Having mastered the mechanical capture of resins, I utilize a process that respects the delicate molecular integrity of the landscape. By bypassing the traditional still, we avoid the thermal degradation that ruins volatile top notes. The result is a tactile archive—absolutes and concretes that represent the true chemical signature of each province: the Coast, the Loam, the High Desert, and the Alpine peaks.

The Mission

Olfactory Literacy & Awareness

Oregon Olfactory Arts bridges the gap between extraction science and regional stewardship. While our commercial work produces high-fidelity absolutes and concretes, the Oregon Scent Trail is our commitment to atmospheric scent literacy. By mapping these four Scent Profile Provinces, we provide the coordinates to experience the landscape as we do: a complex, volatile, and irreplaceable sensory masterpiece.
